Dr. Kenton R. Kaufman is the W. Hall Wendel Jr Musculoskeletal Research Professor, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Director of the Motion Analysis Laboratory, and Consultant in the Departments of Orthopedic Surgery, Physiology and Biomedical Engineering at Mayo Clinic. He is a registered professional engineer. His primary research focus is musculoskeletal rehabilitation science.

　

Dr. Kaufman currently serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association and the Research Advisory Board for Shriners Hospitals for Children. He is a member of Gait and Posture, and Prosthetic and Orthotics International editorial boards. He has served on the National Advisory Board for Medical Rehabilitation Research and the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Kaufman is a Past President of the American Society of Biomechanics. He is a founding member and Past President of the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society. He is a Fellow in the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, American Society of Biomechanics, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and International Society of Biomechanics.

　

Dr. Kaufman has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the American Society of Biomechanics (ASB) Borelli Award for outstanding career accomplishment, ASB Goel Award for Translational Biomechanics, ASB Young Investigator Award, Excellence in Research Award and the O’Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award from the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, Clinical Research Award from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Research Award from the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, three Best Scientific Paper Awards from the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society, Frank Stinchfield Award from The Hip Society, John Charnley Award from The Hip Society, John Insall Award from The Knee Society, Thranhardt Award from the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, and Clinical Biomechanics Award from the International Society of Biomechanics.

Dr Julie Stebbins completed her undergraduate degree in Brisbane, Australia, and then her PhD in Oxford, UK. This focused on assessing foot deformity and motion in children with cerebral palsy. She is now employed as a clinical scientist and manages the Oxford Gait Laboratory, running a busy clinical service and research programme. The research includes a diverse range of projects including surgical outcomes in cerebral palsy, foot and ankle biomechanics, upper limb motion analysis and model development. She has helped to set up gait laboratories in different places around the world including within the UK and Europe, Malta, and most recently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She has previously served on the ESMAC committee and co-ordinated the ESMAC gait course. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief for the journal Gait and Posture.

Dr. Li Li taught at Louisiana State University (1998-2012), as a professor in the Department of Kinesiology, and later endowed professor, director of the Biomechanics Research lab, director of the Peripheral Neuropathy Research Program. Since August 2012, he has been a research professor in the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology, Georgia Southern University. He taught multiple undergraduate and graduate courses. In 2002, he was elected as a Fellow of the Research Consortium; in 2003, he was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. and in 2014, he was inducted as a Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology. In 2023, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Biomechanics Interest Group of the American College of Sports Medicine.

In 1984, he began his research on biomechanics. At present, his main research interests focus on studying the control of different human movement, establishing neuromuscular system movement models, exploring the control mechanism of human neuromuscular system, and applying human movement sciences to disease diagnosis and prevention. His main research topics include technical analysis of sports biomechanics in different sports, balance and gait analysis of patients with peripheral nerve palsy, neuromuscular control and dynamics of human gait transition, and stability of human movement at different ages. He has published more than 140 peer-reviewed research papers and edited five academic books. His research projects were supported by more than US$7.4 million from 13 research grants from the U.S. federal and state governments and foundations.

He was the chair of the Biomechanics Group of the American Academy of Sports Medicine (2008-2009), the President of the International Chinese Sports and Health Association (2010-2013), and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Society of Biomechanics (2017-21). He has organized and presided over many national and international professional academic conferences.

Raphael Dumas received his M.Sc. in Mechanics (INSA Lyon, 1998), and Ph.D. in Biomechanics (ENSAM Paris, 2002), and is currently a Senior Researcher at University Gustave Eiffel. His research interest is in 3D multi-body modeling of the human musculoskeletal system applied to joint pathologies, postural and gait impairments. He is a member of Journal of Biomechanics, Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering, and Sensors editorial boards. Raphael Dumas currently serves on the board of 3D Analysis of Human Movement (Technical Group of the International Society of Biomechanics) and has served on the boards of the Francophone Societies of Biomechanics and of Motion Analysis for Children and Adults. He has authored or co-authored more than 140 archive-journal full-papers, 10 book chapters, 200 congress proceedings, and 2 patents.

Hiroshi Takemura received his B.S. degree in engineering from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Fukuoka, Japan in 1999. He then went to Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Nara, Japan where he received his M.S. (2001) and Ph.D.(2003) degree in information engineering. During October 2003 - March 2004 and January 2005 - May 2005, he was employed as a lecturer (PT) at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Nara, Japan. During April 2004 – December 2004, he went to the University of Karlsruhe, Germany as a guest lecturer in Industrial Applications of Information &Microsystems. In 2005, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tokyo University of Science, Chiba, Japan, where he is currently a Professor since 2019 at Deferment of Mechanical and Aerospace engineering. His research interests include robotics, medical device, biomechanics, gait analysis and human modeling. He has authored and co-authored 73 journal papers, 153 refereed proceedings, and presented totally more than 585 oral and poster presentations up to 2023.
